ROCKPORT--The Aransas County ISD Education Foundation Prize Patrol hit the streets to hand out money to teachers for student programs.

The patrol stopped off first at the Live Oak Learning Center in Rockport to give a check presentation to two first grade teachers. They were given about 700 dollars to pay for a National Geogrpahic for Kids magazine subscription for all 46 kids.

"So they get their own magazine every month and they get to take it home," said Jessica Frietsch, one of the teacher who was given the grant. "So that way they can take it to their families and help out with literacy at home."

"It's amazing," said Amanda Lizcano, who was awarded a grant. "I'm just all shaking inside. I am like Oh my god. It's great. It's wonderful."

This was the first of twelve grants handed out to teachers in the Aransas County ISD. The programs gave the educators money for materials and training curriculm. The grants totaled about $85,000.
