A Corpus Christi family of five were killed today in a horrific accident along I-37 near Swinney Switch, north of Mathis.  DPS investigators say a small car, going northbound toward San Antonio, and carrying the Perez family had a blowout, causing the small car to veer across the interstate.  The car smashed into a 18 wheeler tank truck, that was traveling southbound.  The vehicle hit the rear of the tank itself causing it to catch fire.  The truck driver sustained minor injuries.

Killed were Robert Perez, Sr., Robert Perez, Jr., 38, Cynthia Perez, 32, David Perez 23, Brittany Perez, 12.

The interstate has been shut down since the accident happened around 2PM today.
