Kleberg County Turns Escapee Case Over to DA

KINGSVILLE--Kleberg County investigators have turned over a case against a teenager who escaped from police custody last week over to the DA's Office and he'll now face criminal charges.

18-year-old Rafael Ortega managed to get himself out of his leg cuffs and escape from a transport van. He was run for about 30 hours. He was caught last Tuesday at this home in downtown Kingsville.

Investigators are trying to figure out who helped Ortega, while he was on the loose. and if any jailers will face disciplinary action for failing to do their job in transporting him to the courthouse.

The deputies have started looking scroungier as time as progressed. back then they were neatly dressed, no shirts hanging out and their gut showing, just proves what kind of team we have protecting us. The sloppier they are they sloppier the system gets. and Believe me this won't be the last escapee from this town. But i guarantee this, i ever hear of another escapee and i find him he's a gonner. i shoot to protect myself and my family
