Barge Containing Fuel Additive Stuck Off Coast of Port O'Connor

Crews in the Port O'Connor area are still cleaning up from last month's oil spill in the Galveston Bay area, but as of Tuesday, U.S. Coast Guard officials say they have a new problem to contend with.

About five miles off the coast of Port O'Connor, a barge has gotten itself stuck on a sandbar. That barge is carrying 13,000 gallons of butadiene, a fuel additive.

Coast Guard officials said there is no danger to the environment at this time, because none of the chemical has leaked. The hope is that in the next day or two, experts will be able to re-float the barge during high tide.
