Be a Santa Program to Help Share Holiday Spirit with Seniors

As the holidays approach, many of us will be fortunate enough to spend it with loved ones; but there are so many folks, especially seniors, who won't even get a single visit from a family member.

That is where you can step in. Homestead Senior Care is asking you to Be a Santa.

"They have no one to visit them, so it's our presence, our companionship," said Dr. Martin, president of Homestead Senior Care. "Sometimes we're the only ones who visit these individuals during the holiday season."

This is the fourth year for the program, which asks folks in the community to help our less fortunate seniors get a little gift this holiday season. Wether you can help by buying a gift or help wrap the gifts that are collected, even maybe help deliver them; whatever way you can help is appreciated.

The gifts the seniors are looking for are very basic, including items such as candy, pajamas or lotions.

Here's how to help:

Stop by Stein Mart, Mirador Senior Living, Trinity Towers or Homestead Senior Care, and pick up a tag which has a seniors name. Then, go buy them a gift. Drop it off to Homestead Senior Center by Dec. 17.
