Be S.A.F.E. from Diabetes: Grilling Alternatives

During the summer months, many of us would rather be outside, and grilling is a great way to make healthy food.

For diabetics especially, turkey burgers are a great alternative to regular burgers. And what about adding fruit kabobs for dessert? It's something sweet, and can be thrown on the grill.

And instead of regular fries, dietitian Mary Beth Robinson suggests you use sweet potato fries, a healthier alternative.

Besides food, the second strongest component in being safe from diabetes is exercise.

In fact, one-in-10 deaths worldwide can be blamed on illnesses that are caused by lack of exercise, like heart disease, type two diabetes and breast and colon cancer.

In just one year, it is predicted that exercise can prevent 60,000 American deaths, and 121,000 European deaths. Health experts said everyone should shoot for at least 150 minutes of exercise a week.
