Beeville Police Working to Solve Rash of Recent Burglaries

Beeville police say they have been dealing with a rash of recent burglaries, and that $70,000 in stolen property -- including guns and TVs -- has yet to be recovered.

About $5,000 worth of property has been recovered, however, and police said they have arrested a couple of suspects who they believe are part of a crew. They think the crew is going around and stealing property from vehicles, commercial buildings and homes.

"These individuals are in their 20s, and we believe that the motivation behind all this is probably drugs," Beeville Police Chief Joe Trevino said. "They're getting into these vehicles and these houses and they're stealing these items, and they're either trading them for drugs or they're selling them for drugs, or they're just selling them out to get money to buy drugs."

Police said the drugs involved are mainly methamphetamine and marijuana.
