Body Found in Leopard Street Alleyway Identified by Medical Examiner

The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man who was found dead behind a convenience store in the 1600 block of Leopard Street Saturday as 59-year old Orville Rice, a man listed as homeless.

The official cause of death has not yet been determined, but the medical examiner said heat may have been a factor.

Police were called at around 5 p.m. Saturday after two people walking down the alleyway behind the store found Rice's body. When they arrived at the scene, police had determined that Rice had been dead for several hours. He did not have identification on him, so police had to run his fingerprints in order to notify his next of kin.
