Body of a 41-Year Old Woman Found in Trash Compactor

Corpus Christi police are investigating the death of a 41-year old woman whose remains were found in a trash compactor at a local garbage collection business early Tuesday morning.

The body was found around 6:40 a.m. at Republic Waste Services in the 4400 block of Agnes. A truck had just returned from a route and was emptying its load when the remains were discovered.

Police said she was found in pieces, which they believe resulted from the woman being crushed by the trash compactor. However, police are still investigating the woman's death to see if foul play was involved.

"So how this stands right now, they are conducting a death investigation," said Senior Officer Kirk Stowers of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "This is not considered a homicide at this point."

Police are also looking into the possibility that the woman could have been a vagrant seeking shelter in the dumpster from Monday night's cold weather.

If you have any information about the victim or how this incident may have happened, police are asking that you call them at 361-886-2841.
