Book Drive Held to Benefit the Community of West, Texas

A special book drive was held at Corpus Christi's City Hall Monday to benefit the children of West, Texas.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program along with the Senior Companion Program hosted the event. Folks in charge of the drive said it was a way to honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"We have had a tremendous response," Volunteer Terri Santoya said. "We have boxes, and hopefully we will be delivering them personally before Feb. 20."

After the books are delivered, they will be sorted by state volunteers in West, Texas.
