Book Drive to Help Rebuild School Library in West, Texas

A book drive benefiting the children of West, Texas, will be held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Jan. 20 at City Hall.

The books will help rebuild the West Elementary School library, which was devastated in the West Fertilizer Company explosion in April of 2013.

It's part of a statewide effort called the "One Book at a Time" MLK service activity, led by the Texas Senior Corps Association. New or gently used children's books will be collected from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday at the Parks and Recreation Department's third-floor office in City Hall. Those books will then be delivered to the town of West, where they will be sorted out by Senior Corps volunteers from around Texas.
