Border Patrol Agent Recovering from Gun Wound after Shooting

A U.S. Border Patrol agent is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the leg overnight in Jim Hogg County.

Border Patrol officials said two agents were investigating a suspicious vehicle on FM 649 and Chihuahua Road, just south of Hebbronville, Texas, when one of those agents was shot during a confrontation with the driver.

When the agents conducted their interview with the driver, he became combative, drew a weapon and fired it. The agent's partner returned fire and killed the driver.

The Border Patrol agent that was shot was air lifted to a hospital.

Officials said the suspect was driving a stolen vehicle, and was suspected in an armed robbery and carjacking in Waco, Texas.
