Burglary Suspect Arrested After Leading Police on High-Speed Chase

A burglary suspect was arrested in Beeville Monday morning, but not before leading police on a dangerous and potentially deadly high-speed chase.

Ryan Ray Longoria, 17, was suspected of having broken into several homes earlier in the day. It was at one of those homes that he allegedly stole a work truck, which an unmarked Beeville police unit spotted a short time later.

A marked police unit was called in and attempted to pull Longoria over, and that is when the pursuit began. Eventually, the Department of Public Safety, Bee County Sheriff's deputies and a Texas Ranger joined in the pursuit.

According to police, Longoria was driving at a high rate of speed, causing several minor accidents along the way. The chase led officers down county roads and went as far south as Skidmore, about 11 miles from Beeville.

That is where Longoria pulled into a Dairy Queen, and then sped off heading north on the southbound lanes of Highway 181. Cars and trucks were dodging the speeding truck, and that is when officers decided to shoot out the back tires of the stolen vehicle.

Longoria was arrested and is being charged with three counts of burglary, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault of a public servant with a motor vehicle.
