CAC to Roast Former City Attorney for Thursday Fundraiser

The Children's Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend is celebrating its 20th anniversary by roasting former District and City Attorney Carlos Valdez Thursday night.

The Center's director said Valdez has been a longtime supporter of the CAC, and the roast will also serve as a fundraiser for the CAC, which serves as advocates for those who are victims of abuse or neglect.

Mindy Jimenez, executive director of CAC, said more and more children are being served each year.

"Because we are third in the state of Texas for the number of kids that we see here, we so badly need to grow," Jimenez said. "We're just really small. It's really cramped. We have families almost sit on top of each other when we've got several cases going on at one time."

This year's fundraiser roast will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Omni Bayfront Hotel. Ticket and sponsorship information is available at the CAC's Facebook page.
