Calallen and Flour Bluff Set to Renew Rivalry

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - Calallen hasn't lost many games in its rivalry with Flour Bluff, but the Hornets' victory last year was a stinging one for the 'Cats.

Flour Bluff used a second half "hook and ladder" play to take the lead for good on Calallen en route to a 19-16 win and an eventual appearance in the state quarterfinals.

The Wildcats are looking for payback at the Hornets' stadium Friday, but now they'll be facing a fresh face behind center. Flour Bluff Sophomore quarterback Cody Brewer took over this season for Kolton Mims who graduated, and Brewer has come out firing despite his inexperience. Calallen coach Phil Danaher knows stopping the air attack will be key to shutting down the Hornets.
