Car Catches Fire After Head-On Collision

One woman is facing serious charges this morning after police say she caused a collision that caused a major car fire. The accident happened just before 2:45 on Weber and S.P.I.D. Police say a woman in her 20's was driving westbound on the access road, ran a red light then slammed head-on into a black car. The accident caused both vehicles to spin out. The woman's maroon Lincoln burst into flames.

"It took a little while actually several officers deployed their fire extinguishers, said Lieutenant Michael Peña with the Corpus Christi Police Department. "There were actually three fire extinguishers used to extinguish the fire."

Both drivers were taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital. Officers say the woman in her 20's faces a DWI charge.
