CCISD Prepares To Feed Thousands Of Students

CCISD starts school today, which means the district will need to feed more than 39,000 students.

Sarah Acosta was live for 3News First Edition with how CCISD prepares students' breakfast and lunch and learning about the new nutritional standards that will be put in place.

The biggest change to this school year is the Smart Snack Initiative put in place by the Federal government. Candy bars, potato chips and other junk food will not be allowed to be sold or given out on campus until thirty minutes after school is let out. The guidelines allow fruit, healthy baked chips or low sodium pickles to be sold.
