Chapa Throws First Pitch for Sinton High School Softball Team

The Sinton High School softball team invited 18-year old Kristene Chapa, who survived a shooting at a Portland park last year, to throw out their first pitch on Tuesday.

It's a big honor for Chapa, who has had more than her share of trauma and heartbreak, and perhaps moreso for the team, which Chapa used to play for.

Against all odds, Chapa managed to survive last year's double shooting in a Portland city park. Her girlfriend Mollie Olgin was killed, and Chapa has been recovering from a gunshot wound to her head since the shooting last June.
