Charitable Organizations Working to Deliver Food to the Needy

No place is Thanksgiving more alive than at the Food Bank of Corpus Christi.

Bright and early Wednesday morning, charities lined up to pick up food to distribute to those who would otherwise do with out.

"Our church buys the food at a discount from the Food Bank, and then we make them bags of food or boxes of food," said Aletha Webb, of the Boundless Love Fellowship Church.

Representatives from charities throughout the Coastal Bend depend on the generosity of many to help provide food to those who cannot afford to buy their own, not just at Thanksgiving, but throughout the year; and it is there at the Food Bank warehouse where the process begins.

"It's a little hectic, but that's the way we like," said James Burnett of the Food Bank of Corpus Christi. "That means there are a lot of agencies, a lot of clients, who need food for the Thanksgiving holiday, and fortunately we have enough to get out there to the community. So we're really bustlin' around here, trying to get products in here from our routes and out to the agencies."

The local organizations whose vans and trucks line up outside the Food Bank make sure the donated food reaches those who need it most. Some repeat this process, not only during Thanksgiving, but throughout the year.
