Cheryl Drive Shooting Suspects Plea Not Guilty to Capital Murder Charges

Both Brendon Gaytan and Cruz Salazar, the two suspects in the Feb. 16 shooting on Cheryl Drive that left two children dead, plead not guilty to charges of capital murder in court Thursday.

The suspects were in court for arraignment to enter their pleas and set the date for their trial to begin. They were arrested and charged with capital murder back on Feb. 28 at an apartment in the 800 block of Indiana Avenue.

It was Feb. 16 when Gaytan and Salazar allegedly fired rounds into a home on Cheryl Drive, killing six-year old Nevaeh Oliva and two-year old Lilliana Valent.
