City Announces Delay of Stage 3 Water Restrictions

In a surprising move Monday, the City of Corpus Christi announce the delay of Stage 3 Water Restrictions in response to recent rains.

According to officials, the rains stabilized lake levels. Also, a lack of code enforcement inspectors contributed to the delay of the Stage 3 measures.

"We're going to delay Stage 3 for about 30 days or so," City Water Director Gus Gonzalez said. "We seem to have gotten a little bit of rain that sustained our lake levels and gives us an opportunity to check our controllers and certainly work on our enforcement action."

However, Gonzalez said that citizens should maintain strong water conservation efforts. A press release from the City said our area is still in a drought, and residents should make every effort to conserve water and prepare for the Stage 3 restrictions next month.
