City Announces Ending to Grace Period of New Peddler Ordinance

The City of Corpus Christi announced Monday that the grace period for the newly modified peddler ordinance will end Sept. 8.

The updated ordinance includes new hours that solicitors can go door-to-door. Sales will also be prohibited at homes with "no soliciting" or "no trespassing" signs.

Peddlers must also apply for a permit from the City and go through a criminal background check. However, local nonprofit youth organizations like the Girl Scouts are exempt from having to get a permit.

Anyone that violates the new ordinance could face a fine of up to $500.
