City Finishes First Phase of Street Preventative Maintenance

The City of Corpus Christi has just completed the first batch of work for its Street Preventative Maintenance Program this week.

The project started last month on Baldwin, near Morgan, with repairs to curbs and gutters. Crews also installed or repaired special ramps for the handicapped.

City Council approved the maintenance program last July as the first part of a citywide Street Improvement Plan, but some residents believe repairs should be done first on streets that need immediate attention.

"Well they're doing a good job, but this is not a heavily traveled road," resident J.R. Hinojosa said.

The streets selected for the maintenance program were based on a scoring system. The next streets on tap for repairs include 19th Street, Niagara and Buford. Work on those streets is to begin later this month.
