City Officials Hoping to Move Millions to Fund Other Needed Projects

Corpus Christi city officials are looking to spend roughly $4 million dollars in Federal Housing and Urban Development money to places where the need is greatest.

Eddie Ortega, with Corpus Christi Code Enforcement, is one of the officers evaluating projects submitted last month.

Ortega says the goal is to fund projects that will accommodate the most people.

"We don't want to fund projects where they are not financially viable and they don't have the money," Ortega said. "This is just a portion of their funding and they're waiting for another portion and another portion that's just not going to work for us."

Ortega added the city receives monthly requests for federal dollars and said it takes time to process all requests.
