City Passes Resolution to Continue Negotiations with Firefighters

City Council passed Tuesday a resolution offering to continue contract negotiations with the Corpus Christi Firefighters Association.

The two sides have been at an impasse since May, when the City broke off talks claiming the Union was violating rules through their "Be a Hero" billboard campaign and speaking during public comment at City Council meetings about Fire Station 18.

The Firefighters Association's attorney said the City is infringing on their First Amendment rights to communicate with the public.

There has been no word yet as to when both sides could begin negotiations again.
