City to Enforce Cell Phone Ordinance Beginning Monday

Monday is the day that the City will begin enforcing their new cell phone ordinance, so if you haven't already, it's time to stop handling your phone while driving.

It was one month ago to the day when the City unanimously approved an ordinance restricting the use of cell phones while driving. They gave motorists a 30-day grace period, but that period has come to an end.

You can still use your phone to make emergency calls, but any other use of the phone must be done using a hands-free device. You can be given a ticked if you are handling your phone while stopped in traffic or at a signal light.

Drivers could face up to a $500 fine if caught in violation.
