Click It Or Ticket Results Released by CCPD

A grant from the Texas Department of Transportation is aimed at making the roadways a little safer by encouraging more people to buckle up. The most recent Click It or Ticket campaign, from May 19-June 1, is designed to enforce the state seat belt laws.

During the two week campaign, the Corpus Christi Police Department issued 422 citations for people not wearing their seat belt. They also handed down nearly 50 tickets to people for child restraints. More than 200 other citations were given out for various traffic offenses, such as using the cell phone while driving.

In all, Corpus Christi police officers worked about 350 overtime hours during the Click It or Ticket campaign.

CCPD and TxDOT are urging everyone in a vehicle to make sure their seat belts are buckled, no matter how far you are traveling in your vehicle.
