Coastal Bend Churchgoers Gather for National Day of Prayer

On the first Thursday of May, people of all faiths gather to pray for the nation in recognition of National Day of Prayer. In the Coastal Bend, three churches joined together in observance of this national day at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.

Churchgoers from First Presbyterian Church and First United Methodist Church gathered there for a mass special mass Thursday morning, but people of all faiths were invited. Nueces County Judge Loyd Neal, Mayor Nelda Martinez and State Rep. Todd Hunter were in attendance.

The National Day of Prayer was created by a 1952 joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
