Community Steps Up to Raise Money for Good Samaritan Shelter

3News told you Wednesday of the dire need for additional funding at the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission as they continue to be at full capacity, which is normal during winter months but not during summer.

In order to meet this demand, the shelter needed to immediately raise about $30,000. On Wednesday, the program director there told 3News that, after the story aired, their goal was met.

The Good Sam director said the increase in residents is likely due to a poor economy across the nation, adding that they will need continued support to meet their mission. They are open 24 hours a day at 210 South Alameda Street to take in donations.
