Corpus Christi Mayor, Nelda Martinez, is the newest "ambassador" for the city.
"If you live in Corpus Christi, this is one of the best programs that you can become involved in," Martinez said. "The best four hours spent, you will truly leverage the pride, value and make sure people come back to visit Corpus Christi."
The Mayor, along with some other local officials and tourist industry workers, graduated from the Convention and Visitors Bureau's Ambassador Program. All were recognized during Tuesday's council meeting.
Corpus Christi is just one of a many cities across the country to adopt the ambassador program.
The goal is to turn hospitality workers into well informed and enthusiastic advocates for their area.
