Corpus Christi Native Awarded the Medal of Honor in Washington D.C.

At the White House on Tuesday, President Barack Obama presented the nation's highest military award, the Medal of Honor, to 24 veterans, including a native of Corpus Christi.

Most had to receive the medal posthumously, and many were initially passed over for the honor simply because they were Hispanic, Jewish or African American. As for the Corpus Christi native, Master Sgt. Jose Rodela, he was among the three of two dozen recipients were still alive.

Kiii News Reporter Rudy Trevino spoke to Rodela's family members Tuesday and learned more about the U.S. Army Green Beret.
