Couples Flock to JP Courts to Get Married on Valentine's Day

It has become a tradition for couples to marry on Valentine's Day, so it was not unusual to see couples filing in to Justice of the Peace courts to say their "I do's" on Friday.

Justice of the Peace Joe Benavidez, who happens to be a former U.S. Marine, remembered how to pronounce Asian names by virtue of having spent time overseas. It came in handy on Friday as two Chinese students from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi tied the knot at around noon.

Like most couples, they were a little nervous about taking the big plunge.

"He's too nervous to talk about something, you know. He's too nervous. He was at home asking, 'Where's the ring? Where's the ring?'" Yateng said of her new husband, Pengfei.

The couple said they planned to celebrate with dinner, and then get back to their studies. Kiii News wishes them a long and happy marriage.
