CPS Looking Into Welfare of Child Living in a Tent by Oso Creek

The Corpus Christi Police Department says that Child Protective Services is now looking into the case of a 10-year old girl living in a tent on the city's southside along with her mom and her boyfriend.

However, a CCPD detective looked into the matter and could find no criminal wrongdoing. The department said they believe it is a case of a couple who have simply fallen on hard times.

The family was living in a tent along Oso Creek in the area of Weber and Yorktown, just across from the Lakes subdivision.

Police took the family to a shelter after they were found Tuesday evening, and then worked throughout the day Wednesday to clear the camp site.

Another campground was found nearby and was also cleaned up.
