Baby's death ruled homicide, mother's in custody

The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the Dec. 15 death of an 18-month-old child in Robstown a homicide and issued two arrest warrants for the child's mother.

ROBSTOWN (KIII NEWS) - The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the Dec. 15 death of an 18-month-old child in Robstown a homicide and issued two arrest warrants for the child's mother.

The Robstown Police Department began their investigation Dec. 15 when the child died from unexplained injuries. The Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a homicide Tuesday, and on Wednesday police obtained warrants for the arrest of 19-year-old Chasity Herrera.

Herrera is now in custody for murder and injury to a child by omission, with a bond totaling $1 million.
