Crime Stoppers Tips Lead to Arrests of 10 Fugitives in March

Tips to the Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers in March led to the arrest of 10 fugitives, and more than $2,500 was awarded to tipsters.

Most recently, another successful Crime Stoppers tip led to the arrest of a woman wanted for a felony DWI Sunday evening. Shayna Barnes,42, from Sandy Oaks Drive, was arrested on a warrant after a Crime Stoppers tip. She was delivered to the City Detention Center.

"Not only do you have an 800 number that you can call, you can actually text a tip. You can get onto an email website and provide a tip, and so we are trying to make ourselves as accessible as we possibly can," Crime Stoppers Chairperson Audrey Vicknair said. "We're trying to put apps on peoples cell phones. All of this again, so everybody knows, is completely anonymous."

Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers is not run by the police department, and they do depend on private contributions to stay in operation.
