CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Corpus Christi police said a couple responsible for numerous petty crimes over the last four or five days were caught Friday afternoon in the 1500 block of South Port Avenue.

It was just before 2 p.m. when officers managed to track down the stolen vehicle the suspects were in. Officers had found it Thursday morning and were led on a short chase, but had to end their pursuit before capturing the suspects.

Officers located the stolen vehicle Friday at a muffler shop in the 1500 block of South Port Avenue. A worker there said the suspects had pulled into the shop and asked if he had any extra gas they could have. He was looking for a gas can when officers pulled in and the male suspect fled on foot.

The female suspect was detained at the scene as officers gave chase, managing to capture the male suspect a short distance from the muffler shop. Both the man and woman were arrested.

Police said the couple was responsible for petty crimes over the last four or five days and not only were they in a stolen vehicle, other stolen items were found in their possession.
