Second burned body identified, police suspect double homicide

The second of two bodies found burned in a Robstown fire has been identified, and police announced Wednesday they believe both were victims of homicide.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The second of two bodies found burned in a Robstown fire has been identified, and police announced Wednesday they believe both were victims of homicide.

It was Saturday, Feb. 3, when the Corpus Christi Police Department responded to a missing person report in the 4600 block of Up River Road. Officers said Jesus Gomez was missing and there was a potential homicide scene.

The same day, a fire broke out at a palm tree farm in Robstown. After the Robstown Fire Department got the fire under control, two bodies were discovered. It was confirmed by relatives Tuesday that one of those bodies was 51-year-old Jesus Gomez.

On Wednesday, the Corpus Christi Police Department announced the second body has been identified as 35-year-old Isabel Cuellar.

Police said it appears Gomez and Cuellar were both victims of a homicide that took place in the 4600 block of Up River Road and transported to Robstown where their bodies were burned.

3News spoke with Gomez' son Bryan about his death. Bryan said he was not familiar with Cuellar and had no idea what her relationship to his father was.

"I don't really know at all who could have done it," Bryan said. "All I can hope for is that they would see this and come forward, and know what they did was wrong. Confess for what they did."

Gomez' family said they want justice for their loved one and for Cuellar as well, and ask that anyone with information about the crime reach out to police.

If you have any information regarding this double homicide, contact CCPD Detective C. Mendez at 361-886-2881.
