Two juveniles arrested for shoplifting, evading arrest

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Corpus Christi police were dispatched Monday night to the HEB in the 4400 block of Kostoryz in reference to a theft in progress. The call stated that two juvenile males ran out of the store with a basket full of merchandise.

The caller told police that the suspects were last seen in the area of Gollihar and Nicholson. A patrol officer looking for the suspects observed them pushing the basket in the area of 4800 Kendall Drive. The officer made contact with the suspects and told them to stop. One took off on foot and the other began struggling with the officer.

The officer was able to control the suspect until backup arrived. Officers received a description of the other suspect and searched the area. The other juvenile male was located and arrested in the area of Mansheim and Gabriel Drive.

Both suspects were taken back to the HEB and positively identified. The 14- and 15-year-old male suspects were arrested and transported to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.
