Two suspects in Robstown homicide identified, one on the run

The Nueces County Sheriff's Office has released the identities of two men wanted in connection with the Oct. 1 shooting death of a Robstown man. One is in already in custody on an unrelated charge, and the other is still on the loose.

ROBSTOWN (KIII NEWS) - The Nueces County Sheriff's Office has released the identities of two men wanted in connection with the Oct. 1 shooting death of a Robstown man. One is in already in custody on an unrelated charge, and the other is still on the loose.

It was Oct. 1 when 37-year-old Stevie Rivera was gunned down in front of his home along County Road 69 in Robstown. His family said he was shot once in the back with a small caliber gun. He made it back into the house where he collapsed.

With the help of the U.S. Marshals in the investigation, warrants were acquired for both 39-year-old Jimmy Salinas and 27-year-old Julian M. Vela. Salinas is currently in custody in Cameron County on an unrelated charge and the Sheriff's Office is making arrangements to bring him back to Nueces County.

Vela is still on the run. He is wanted on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and officers believe he is possibly armed and dangerous.
