Del Mar College Launches New Student WiFi Network on Campus

A new WiFi network is up and running on the campus of Del Mar College, making it easier for students to tackle their academic work.

The new system is called VikingNet. It is for students only, and will allow them to connect to the college's WiFi via laptops, tablets and cell phones. Students will be able to have up to two devices at the same time on the network.

Meanwhile, faculty and staff will continue to use DelMarNet for their wireless devices.

"It's really going to help if I need to access the Del Mar website where my assignments are online, if I need to do work here or whatever, because all of my assignments, that's how I turn them in," Del Mar student Christian Ohler said.

"It's a lot easier and it's a lot more convenient to use, because I don't have to go to the testing center and I can have it on more than one device, which I love because I can use it on my phone as well as my tablet," Del Mar student Samira Russell said.

In addition, Del Mar launched an "Ask the Viking" database, which will provide answers to Web questions students may have.
