Del Mar Hosts Screening of Documentary Honoring Hector P. Garcia

Hundreds of people gathered at Del Mar College Thursday to continue to celebrate Dr. Hector P. Garcia's 100th birthday.

Over 400 people went to the Richardson Auditorium to watch "Justice for My People," a documentary honoring the late civil rights leader.

"This is exciting," said Cecilia Garcia-Akers, Dr. Hector P. Garcia's daughter. "The purpose of my Foundation is to increase awareness of Dr. Garcia, and I think it's so important that people realize what his legacy is and what he stood for all his life, and that's why we're doing it."

The free showing was open to the public. Friday marks the 100th birthday of Hector P. Garcia.
