Driver Leads Troopers on High Speed Chase Through 3 Counties

A man leads DPS Troopers on a high speed chase Sunday morning through three counties.  The chase started at around 9:30 am near Alice on US Highway 281.  Troopers tried to pull a Chevy Tahoe over for a traffic violation.

The truck didn't stop and that's when the pursuit began.  Speeds reached 100 miles an hour.  The man went into Duval County, then back into Jim Wells County, and then ended up in Nueces County.

The chase ended when the man drove into a fence on FM 624. The suspect took off on foot and authorities weren't able to find him.

Authorities believe that vehicle was being used for smuggling purposes.
