Driver Runs Stop Sign, Slams into Pole

One man is facing serious charges this morning after crashing into a light pole. It happened just before 3 a.m. at the intersection of University and Alameda, near the Islander Village Apartments. Police tell 3 News the 25-year-old male driver of this silver truck was speeding, ran a stop sign, and hit a light pole, cracking it half. Nearly 50 people in the area are without power. The driver was transported to an area hospital to be checked out. Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
