Driver, Teens Arrested for Unlawfully Carrying Gun, Brass Knuckles

A 31-year old man and two teens were taken into police custody Thursday night after an officer pulled them over and discovered possible synthetic narcotics, a pistol and brass knuckles in their vehicle.

It was around 10:20 p.m. when an officer spotted the vehicle driving without its headlights on in the 4100 block of Greenwood Drive. When the officer pulled the vehicle over, she made contact with the driver, 31-year old Jose Esquivel, and his passengers, a 16-year old and 15-year old.

Esquivel was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a prohibited weapon, particularly the brass knuckles. The teens were also taken into custody for unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The vehicle was impounded and the teens were taken to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center.

The possible synthetic narcotics were place into evidence for testing.
