Duval County Deputy Finds Marijuana Stashed in Luggage

A Duval County deputy discovered $12,000 worth of marijuana after initiating a traffic stop near San Diego Tuesday morning.

It was around 8 a.m. when the Duval County Sheriff's Office was called out to a stretch of Highway 359, just north of Benavides, where a sport utility vehicle had crashed through a fence. When Deputy Matt Caffey arrived, he discovered that the driver of the SUV had fled the scene.

Caffey was able to track down the SUV outside of San Diego, where he initiated the traffic stop. During his search of the vehicle, he discovered five bundles of marijuana stashed in luggage, weighing a total of 60 pounds.

The driver of the SUV, 28-year old Mary Clarissa Infante of Hebbronville, was arrested and charged for fleeing the scene of an accident and possession of marijuana. She was booked into the Duval County Jail.
