Elderly Man Caught Shooting Feral Cats on the Island

An 84-year old man could be looking at some serious fines after shooting at feral cats out on the Island.

It was around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Aquarius Street and Keel Avenue when residents spotted the elderly man sitting in his car, shooting at the cats. Neighbors called police.

The man said he was just tired of all the feral cats in his neighborhood.

"You don't take it upon yourself to start shooting at them," said Senior Officer Michael Goodman of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "It causes much more problems."

One cat was injured and had to be euthanized by Animal Control.

Police did take away the man's shotgun. He could be facing charges of firing a weapon inside the city limits.
