ExxonMobil's King Ranch Gas Plant Continues Burning After Overnight Fire

A fire that broke out at the ExxonMobil gas plant in King Ranch following an explosion Sunday night continued to burn through Monday.

According to emergency crews, Sunday night's fog made it difficult for firefighters to get to the property quickly, and the fire itself was deep inside of the property grounds, about seven miles west of Kingsville on Highway 141.

Exxon has released very limited information, only saying that all personnel have been accounted for. The cause of the accident is still being investigated, and they plan to let the fire burn itself out.

The facility is currently shut down, and the fire has been contained to a single area within the facility.
