Family and Protective Services Investigating Local A-Plus Daycare

3News confirmed Monday that the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services will be investigating a local daycare where an 11-month old child received second-degree burns from an accident.

CPS officials said they can only confirm that a "standards" investigation is being conducted at the A-Plus Daycare and Learning Center on Northwest Boulevard in Calallen. That is the daycare where 11-month old Maverick Chism was scalded by boiling water last week, leaving his leg, chest and arm covered with second-degree burns.

Maverick was released from Driscoll Children's Hospital Friday after being treated for the burns.

Police said a surveillance tape showed the toddler pulling a crock pot of boiling water onto himself while sitting in a high chair. The toddler's mother plans to take legal action against the daycare.

CPS officials said results of their investigation will be posted to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services website.
