Family Hosting Fundraiser for Children of Murder Victim

It was one month ago when 28-year old Krystal Flores Perales was shot to death at her Flour Bluff home, and family and friends are holding a fundraiser for her four children on Tuesday.

Krystal was murdered at her home on Feb. 24. Her ex husband, 29-year old Jesse Lee Perales, was arrested for her murder.

The fundraiser will be held at Howard's Barbecue in Flour Bluff from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, according to Krystal's cousin, Gabriella Ponce.

"It's hard. It really is, because there is not a day that goes by that I don't wish things could have been different," Ponce said. "But we just have to learn to cope."

"We are asking people to come out and participate. There will be a candlelight vigil as well as a balloon release in the evening," Howard's Barbecue Manager Phyllis Barkin said.

Anyone who plans to attend are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for Krystal's children, boys ages one, seven and nine, and a four-year old girl. Proceeds will go to the Krystal Flores Children Fund.
