Fifth Anniversary of CCPD Lieutenant Killed in the Line of Duty

Tuesday marked the fifth anniversary of the death of an on-duty Corpus Christi police officer, Lt. Stuart J. Alexander.

Alexander was killed on-duty on March 11, 2009, when he was struck and killed while trying to stop a truck with spike strips during a high-speed chase. The man behind the wheel, Daniel Lopez, was convicted of capital murder and is currently on death row.

Lt. Alexander served the Corpus Christi Police Department for 20 years, and was 47 years old. He is survived by his wife, son and three grandchildren.

A memorial for Lt. Alexander will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lt. Stuart Alexander Park, 10622 Frontier Drive.
